SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive, fast and long-lasting pain relief treatment. Shockwave Therapy accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. It is commonly used to treat shoulder injuries, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, elbow tendinopathies and chronic stages of myofascial pain syndromes.
-
LASER THERAPY
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as cold laser therapy, is a treatment that uses low-level lasers or light emitting diodes (LEDs) to stimulate cellular function and promote healing in various conditions. Some common conditions that may benefit from this type of therapy include; pain relief, wound healing, sports injuries, and skin conditions. Laser therapy is a painless and safe treatment option.

GROWCO POSTPARTUM REHAB
Dr. Myla is a GrowCo practitioner! At GrowCo, we believe moms deserve more than just a 6-week checkup when it comes to recovery after childbirth. GrowCo experts fill that gap by providing a comprehensive postpartum checkup and progressive healing through exercise targeting the core, pelvic floor and total body. The methodology is aimed at preventing, reducing, and/or resolving symptoms women have been made to think are an inevitable consequence of childbirth.

CUSTOM MADE ORTHOTICS
Custom Made Orthotics are corrective devices designed to help normalize foot biomechanics. At WELLNESS LAB, we combine gait analysis with 3D scanning technology to seamlessly mold the orthotic to not only your foot, but also to your footwear. There are several common symptoms that may indicate misalignment of the feet. You may be a candidate for orthotics if: one side of the sole of your shoe wears out faster than the other, you have chronic heel, knee or lower back pain, or your feet point inward or excessively outward when you walk.
-
COMPRESSION SOCKS
Compression socks are a specialized type of hosiery designed to provide graduated pressure to the legs and feet. At WELLNESS LAB, we offer Sigvaris brand compression socks, which are carefully measured to match the unique dimensions of each individual. By exerting graduated pressure from the ankle upwards, compression socks promote better circulation and assist in managing various conditions such as varicose veins, edema, and leg fatigue. They work by helping to improve blood flow, reduce swelling, and alleviate discomfort.

Chiropractors specialize in diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those related to the spine. Using a hands-on approach, they apply controlled force to restricted or abnormal joints through spinal adjustments and manual techniques. These treatments aim to alleviate pain, improve joint function, and enhance overall well-being. In addition to spinal adjustments, chiropractors may incorporate other therapies like muscle release therapy, rehabilitative exercises, and lifestyle modifications. At WELLNESS LAB, our chiropractor, Dr. Myla, offers evidence-based and patient-centered care, focusing on restoring optimal function and promoting long-term wellness.

A chiropractor undergoes extensive and specialized training to provide exceptional care. After completing an undergraduate program, they dedicate four years to studying at an accredited chiropractic college, such as the esteemed Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. Throughout their training, chiropractors receive over 4,200 hours of comprehensive clinical education. Their curriculum encompasses a wide range of subjects, including anatomy, pathology, biomechanics, radiology, chiropractic principles, diagnosis, and adjustment techniques. Rest assured that chiropractors have the knowledge and expertise to deliver exceptional care and support your health and well-being.

Your initial assessment will begin with a thorough history-taking. Dr. Myla may ask you about the following: signs and symptoms of your condition, personal and family medical history, major illnesses, surgeries or operations, medications, and lifestyle questions. She will then proceed to the physical examination, where she may perform some of these tests: blood pressure, postural and movement analysis, reflex and neurological testing, orthopaedic tests, and muscle and joint palpation. Dr. Myla will then present a report of findings, where she will explain your diagnosis and plan of management. Afterwards, if you have given informed consent, you will start your first treatment.

Chiropractors can also provide guidance on exercises, stretches, and lifestyle modifications to support your well-being and promote a healthy spine. Moreover, chiropractic care contributes to optimizing nervous system function, boosting immune system response, improving sleep quality, enhancing mental clarity, and promoting general wellness. Whether you have pain or not, scheduling regular visits with Dr. Myla can help maintain the health of your spine and nervous system, prevent potential issues, and support your overall well-being.

It is not uncommon to experience mild soreness or discomfort following a chiropractic adjustment. This soreness is often a normal response as your body adjusts to the changes made during the treatment. Here are a few reasons why you may feel sore after an adjustment:
Muscular Response: During an adjustment, your muscles and soft tissues may be stretched or manipulated. This can result in temporary muscle soreness, similar to what you might experience after a workout or physical activity.
Joint Mobilization: Adjustments involve restoring proper joint motion and alignment. This process can temporarily increase blood flow and trigger inflammatory responses, leading to some soreness or tenderness in the area.
Release of Tension: If you had muscle tension or tightness prior to the adjustment, releasing that tension can cause temporary discomfort as the muscles readjust.
Pre-existing Condition: If you had an underlying musculoskeletal condition or injury, the adjustment may temporarily aggravate the area before providing relief and improved function.
If you have any concerns about the soreness or if it persists or worsens over time, we encourage you to contact Dr. Myla or our team.

The cracking sound that occurs during a chiropractic adjustment is called a joint cavitation. It happens when gas bubbles within the synovial fluid in the joints are suddenly released due to changes in pressure during the adjustment. While the cracking sound may be surprising or uncomfortable for some, it is not a measure of the effectiveness of the adjustment. Not all adjustments produce a cracking sound, as some techniques are designed to be gentle and low-force. The focus of the adjustment is on restoring proper joint function and alignment, regardless of whether a sound is produced. If you have any concerns or questions about the cracking sound or the adjustment process, it is best to discuss them with your chiropractor for a better understanding and to ensure your comfort during treatment.

The frequency of chiropractic adjustments varies depending on individual needs and goals. After an initial assessment, your chiropractor will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your condition and health. For acute conditions, more frequent adjustments may be necessary initially, while maintenance care focuses on preventing future problems and maintaining spinal health. Each person responds differently to adjustments, so the frequency of visits will be adjusted based on your progress. Factors such as lifestyle, physical activity, and stress levels also play a role. Regular communication with your chiropractor is important to ensure the appropriate frequency of adjustments to support your specific needs and goals. Together, you and your chiropractor can determine the ideal frequency of visits to help you achieve optimal results and maintain your spinal health.
